Communication disorders are among the most common disabilities in the United States. The overall future and success of a life can be improved greatly through the early identification of communication disorders, establishment of their causes, and subsequent intervention.
from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Incidence and Prevalence of Communication Disorders and Hearing Loss - 2008
If my possessions were taken from me with one exception, I would choose to keep the power of communication, for by it, I would soon regain all the rest.

We're Unique...And That Sets Us Apart
The Center for Hearing, Speech & Language (CHSL) is a unique 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and member of two United Way organizations. We have been providing services in Denver, Colorado since 1918 and began offering hearing services in Colorado Springs in the early '70's. Our professional staff of audiologists, speech pathologists and therapists provide quality hearing, vision, speech and language services for people of all ages, including those who are unable to pay. We also offer a wide variety of cutting-edge communication therapy services and well-respected literacy projects for children and adults. Our statewide mobile hearing conservation program, serving Colorado's manufacturing and business community, goes right back into our charitable services that moderate- to low-income families in Denver and Colorado Springs have come to rely upon.
We're Providing Financial Assistance to Those In Need...And That Brings Us Together
You won't find this kind of help anywhere else. The Center for Hearing, Speech and Language proudly offers free and sliding-scale fees based on need, family size and income levels according to Federal Poverty Guidelines used to determine financial eligibility. Our KidScreen Program provides screenings to pre-school and school-age children, over half of whom are receiving financial aid for their screening. Our Hearing Aid Bank is a special fund we created so that we can help low-income clients pay for expensive hearing aids and assistive listening devices.
We've Been Part of the Denver Landscape Since 1918!
We've been doing this a long time! For over 90 years people have been coming to us for the same reason: exceptional care for people of all ages and economic backgrounds. We began providing audiology services to the people of Colorado Springs in 1974 and last year expanded our Metro Denver area KidScreen hearing, vision, speech and language screening program to offer the same exemplary services to families in Colorado Springs. Through prevention, diagnosis and treatment, we help over 8,000 children, adults and seniors each year to improve their ability to communicate so they can lead full and productive lives.
And, of Course, We're Proud Members of
the Better Business Bureau
The Center for Hearing, Speech and Language is a proud recipient of a 2007 BBB Gold Star Certificate for "adherence to BBB's Standards of Trust ."
